P4 DCC Loco GWR 57XX 0-6-0 8715

The Tetbury Branch, upon which my 26ft P4 exhibition layout is based, was worked on a, ‘one engine in steam’ basis. So why have I amassed a stud of over forty locos?  I am planning a new 7mm layout and will need to sell Tetbury, in order to make room for it. So, in advance of the sale of the layout, I am going to list all the locos in my collection as being for sale.

Every one runs to my satisfaction, and I have programmed the decoders to provide  realistic  slow running  and a sensible top speed.

This is one of a number of locos built for me by Karl Crowther, surely the finest builder of 4mm locos. He starts with a Hornby or Bachmann loco body and builds a compensated chassis – usually High Level, to suit, using Ultrascale Nickel Silver P4 wheelsets. The result is a loco that performs brilliantly, with smooth starts and realistic hauling capacity.  In an exhibition setting, you need locos that can be relied upon unfailingly. This is such a loco.

It has been lightly weathered and is finished in GWR unlined Green.
